A stutter effect made from your own track

Capture your own audio

Stutter repeats recent input from the channel. There is no bundled sample pack to select or tune: the captured sound comes from your track.

Pick a rhythmic shape

Start with straight sixteenths or thirty-seconds, then try triplets, dotted repeats, swung pairs, reversed slices or short bursts at the end of a beat.

Keep it in time

The patterns follow tempo and musical position from the DAW. Short transitions soften slice and active-window edges without moving the rhythmic grid.

How to automate a tempo-synced fill

Play the source channel, choose a pattern and raise Intensity. Adjust Cut Mix and Cut Speed to taste, then automate Intensity for the fill. Return it to zero to release the effect and hear the original channel again.

Run your DAW transport and feed the channel audio before raising Intensity, so there is recent material to capture. Tempo and timeline position must be supplied by the host. Drop Guillotine intentionally includes a final cut; Tail Gap controls the high-Intensity silence effect.

INSTALLATION

Install JDMeet Stutter on Mac

macOS 11 or newer, Apple Silicon or Intel, and a VST3-compatible DAW such as FL Studio or Ableton Live. This download does not include Windows, AU or AAX; Logic Pro does not load VST3 directly.

  1. Save your session and quit your DAW. Download and open the installer; macOS may request an administrator password.
  2. The existing disk path stays /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/JDmeet Stutter.vst3. This updates the same plugin instead of creating another identity.
  3. FL Studio: reopen FL Studio, then open Options → File settings → Manage plugins. Enable Verify plugins and run Find installed plugins. After an update, include previously verified plugins in the rescan. Look under Plugin database → Installed → Effects for JDMeet Stutter; add it to a Mixer effect slot, not an instrument channel.   4. Ableton Live: reopen Live and open the Plug-ins panel in its settings/preferences. Enable VST3 System Folders for the standard location above, then wait for scanning to finish. Find JDMeet Stutter in the Browser’s Plug-ins category and add it after the sound source. Do not set the system VST3 folder as a custom folder. See Ableton’s macOS plug-in setup guide.
  5. If the effect is still missing in Live after checking its location and compatibility, Option-click Rescan for a full rescan and wait for it to finish. Ableton’s missing plug-in checklist explains the additional checks. This is troubleshooting guidance, not a guarantee for every host version.
  6. Once the effect is visible, start playback on a channel carrying audio, choose a preset and follow the workflow above. Appearing in a scan and processing audio are separate checks. Keep a backup of sessions made with earlier versions before updating.

Release 1.0.2

This update smooths performance-control transitions and removes the limiter’s previous automatic gain increase. The limiter is a sample-peak guard, not a true-peak mastering limiter.

Audio regression and VST3 host tests check defined behaviours and stability. They do not guarantee that every preset suits every track or that every version of every DAW has been tested.
